A 1,500 sqft timber-frame house on a south-facing ridge in Colorado. Designed for a family of four who wanted a single uncomplicated room big enough to hold the whole family — and three quiet rooms when it's time to scatter.
The owners came to us with a small envelope and a big ambition. They wanted a house that could hold the family during the holidays — and dissolve into the landscape the other eleven months of the year. A project about restraint, not expression.
We drew a simple rectangle on the ridge. Two gables, one central living volume, three bedrooms pushed to the edges. No flourishes. The site does the heavy lifting.
The main living space is 38 feet long with double-height glazing facing south. Every drawing, section, and schedule was coordinated to protect that one clear gesture. Kitchen, dining, and living share the same air; bedrooms are small and quiet by design.
Like every ARCH-S project, Ridge House ships with a complete build-ready package: architectural, structural, and MEP plans; editable CAD files; material specs coordinated with local suppliers; and a REScheck-compliant envelope for the local climate zone.
The contractor doesn't need to guess. The homeowner doesn't need a second consultant. The drawings are the contract.
