Is the Skylight Cabin really buildable in my area?

Yes, the Skylight Cabin is a fully buildable structure. Our plans are designed to meet general residential code standards and include structural, architectural, and MEP documentation. Many clients have already used them to build across different U.S. regions and internationally.

What if my lot isn't flat or has a complex topography?

Not a problem. The base package includes both slab and crawlspace foundation options. If your site has a slope or requires a walkout basement, we also offer that foundation layout as an optional add-on. And if you need custom adjustments, we can help through a Discovery Call or design consult.

Can I modify the plans?

Yes. You can modify the plans on your own with the optional CAD (DWG) files, or we can work with you on custom modifications. Many of our clients personalize the layout, add rooms, or shift openings to fit their lifestyle or land.

Can I change the layout or adapt it later?

Absolutely. Once you purchase the editable files (CAD), you or a local designer can adapt the layout. The design is flexible and meant to evolve if needed. We also support layout changes through our modification service.

Are the documents enough for permit submission?

In any cases, yes. The plan set includes architectural drawings, structural layout, and MEP diagrams — plus REScheck energy compliance for U.S. Climate Zones 2 and 3. Most customers have used them to apply for permits directly or with minimal local adjustments.

Will this be approved for permits in my city?

Building codes vary, but most jurisdictions accept our plans with little to no modification. In some cases, your local building department may require an engineer to stamp the plans or make minor site-specific adaptations. We're here to help with that.

Can you help me adapt it to my location?

Yes! Every purchase includes a free Discovery Call where we can review your site, answer technical questions, and suggest next steps. We also offer custom adaptation services for terrain, climate, or code-specific needs.

What format do the plans come in?

The base plan package comes in PDF format, ready to print and share with your contractor. You can also add-on the editable CAD (DWG) files and a materials list for estimating and sourcing.
